Unfortunately,  refined carbohydrates is one of the evil doors to aggravate acne conditions. Every single food that you eat are converted to glucose(sugar) when it is digested. Food that are converted into glucose at a faster rate have high glycemic index. Refined carbohydrates typically have high glycemic index.

Food that have high glycemic index will cause a big fluctuation in blood sugar level(BSL). A sharp rapid increase will force your body to produce insulin to bring down BSL. High BSL is dangerous to your general health. The problem with high BSL, is that insulin will be produce “automatically” to bring it down. Producing excess insulin can be the problem here, since insulin is a form of hormones. If your body’s BSL are constantly changing, your body would need to constantly produce insulin to control BSL. This means that your body will constantly undergo hormonal imbalance. With that, hormonal imbalance will cause overactive sebaceous glands to produce excessive sebum. Read more about glucose and glycemic index.

KEEP THIS IN MIND!

An easy start for you to remember is that water has 0 glycemic index and table sugar has 100 glycemic index. Food with high glycemic index are those above 70,  medium ones are 56 to 69, low ones are considered below 55. Cutting down on your refined carbohydrates intake could be as important as cutting down on sugar intake. Eat brown rice instead of white rice, choose whole grains over refined grains and choose brown bread over white bread. While a drop in your refined carbohydrates intake is good, it is never good enough.

Avoiding food with high glycemic index alone AGAIN will not spared you from high BSL. Even if you take food with low glycemic index, you can still be having high BSL. If you are keen to learn how to REALLY maintain a low BSL, you can sign up for my FREE acne e-course below. I will reveal the secrets on why avoiding food with high glycemic index is not enough to maintain a low BSL.
