Cystic Acne Treatment
Treating cystic acne requires a lot of planning and discipline. Cystic acne sufferers mostly have problem with their social life and often, lack self confidence on themselves. To identify cystic acne, read more on cystic acne.

Accutane for Cystic Acne
A very popular treatment for cystic acne is isotretinoin, more commonly known as accutane. There’s no doubt about the effectiveness of accutane on cystic acne. In fact, 90% cystic acne victims notice significant improvement in their acne condition after completing their accutane treatment.
However, I do not recommend accutane! Why? Because there are too many side effects accutane can cause. Not just any side effects, but SEVERE side effects. Some of the frightening side effects that accutane can cause includes dry eyes, dry skin, vision problems, depression, and even increased suicide attempts. Perhaps, the most noted side effects of accutane is that it can cause serious birth defects for pregnant women.
With so many options for cystic acne treatment, I don’t see why anyone should put their life at stake and incurred the risk of so many side effects by using accutane.
Since hormonal imbalance is largely the reason for many cystic acne cases, one can use hormonal acne treatment options as a way to treat cystic acne. Read more about hormonal acne treatment.
Cortisone Injection
Cortisone injection involves injecting dilute corticosteroid into the lesion. It is a painless process and is done by a medical professional. Cortisone injection will reduce lesion inflammation, swelling and the pain cause by cyst. Significant effects could be seen within a few days. However, I recommend cortisone injection ONLY for temporary measures.
Antibiotics
Antibiotics is also commonly prescribed by dermatologists for cystic acne sufferers. Antibiotics have anti-inflammatory effects and is also an extremely powerful medicine to kill bacteria that cause acne. However, I do NOT recommend antibiotics for long-term acne treatment. Like cortisone injection, I think antibiotics is only a short term measures. One of the common reasons for this is that antibiotics can cause several side effects and can harm your general health. There are many other reasons why I don’t recommend antibiotics, I suggest you read my detailed blog post on antibiotics.
Like what I said at the start, treating cystic acne requires a lot of planning. If you want to get rid of cystic acne forever, you have to take a long-term treatment approach. Yes, accutane and antibiotics might get rid of cystic acne, but they will ONLY work as temporary measures. What you need is a plan, to follow, and to get rid of cystic acne, PERMANENTLY!
